Wednesday night was rough for Raptors coach Dwane Casey. Not only did his Raps get absolutely smoked by the Cavaliers in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals, but Casey also had to deal with an annoying courtside Cavs fan yelling at him during the blowout.
Cleveland certainly didn’t need any additional help as they steamrolled Toronto, 116-78, to take a three games to two series lead, but a man seated courtside decided to chirp at Casey on the floor anyway. Did it factor into the Cavs’ domination? Probably not, considering they were already up by 34 points, but the trash talk seemed to be effective nonetheless. It’s not known what the fan said, but it definitely got under Casey’s skin, as the coach briefly yelled in the fan’s direction before turning his attention back to the game.
Fortunately for Casey and the Raptors, they’ll head back to Toronto for Game 6 where they’ll look to stave off elimination in a friendlier environment. With the Cavs just one win away from another Finals berth, maybe the team should consider bringing this pesky fan with them north of the border for an added advantage. At the very least, they’ll want to make sure he’s back in his courtside seat for a possible Game 7 to give Casey the business. Every little bit helps.
