PANAJI: The state government has designated Campal Parade ground and Azad Maidan for organizing protest rallies, morchas, processions, hunger strikes, dharnas, agitations and other forms of protests in Panaji city.
The order issued by north Goa district magistrate Nila Mohanan comes into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force for a period of 60 days.
The order is issued under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
“Any such activities taking place outside these specified locations shall be treated as illegal and any person or people violating this order shall be punished under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code,” Mohanan said.
The organizers shall apply and get permission for organizing any of the activities mentioned in the order and shall also obtain permission for using the two locations specified above from the authorities controlling the same.
“No permission shall be granted to use the Azad Maidan and Campal parade ground on days when state functions are scheduled,” she added.
