Police apply for suspect detection test for cop killer Manish Balai
AHMEDABAD: Manish Balai who brutally bludgeoned Constable Chandrakant Makwana inside the crime branch premises could have to undergo suspect detection test (SDS). Police officials said they have submitted an application for SDS test of the cop killer. According to police sources said the SDS helps in determining whether the subject is vulnerable to questions related to the crime.
"It is test in which heart beats and blood pressure of the subject is measured while interrogation.
The test is not admissible in the court as evidence but it gives a clear idea if the suspect is hiding facts related to the crime" said a police officer.
The administration of the test depends upon the consent of the accused and a Narco analysis test could follow if the suspect is found to have given suspicious answers added a senior police official.
"We still suspect that Balai is hiding a few facts related to the murder of constable Chandrakant Mackwana and the drug trafficking racket run by him and his accomplice Anand Khandelwal who is still untraceable" said a senior police official.
It is noteworthy that Manish Balai, resident of Jaipur in Rajasthan was brought for questioning to the city crime branch office on April 20 with regard to a tip off about drug trafficking . However during the night Manish Balai brutally murdered Constable Chandrakant Mackwana who was put in charge of his interrogation and managed to escape from the crime branch.
The crime branch officials swung into action and located Manish Balai, who was travelling by train to Jaipur from Bandra. According to sources teams of crime branch intercepted the train at Karjan railway station and nabbed Balai.
According to senior police sources the case of murder against Manish Balai was registered at the city crime branch office which was later transferred to Zone-1 DCP Bipin Ahire.
It was only the incident that security was beefed up at the city crime branch office with barbed wires put on the boundary wall, from where Balai had allegedly escaped from the high security city crime branch office.
