Josh Fogg’s history against the St. Louis Cardinals is littered with home runs, losses and frustration. He is 1-8 with a 7.11 ERA in 13 games against St. Louis, but that misery might be changing. When Fogg (4-4, 4.91 ERA) faced the Cardinals at the new Busch Stadium on May 9, he left the game with a 2-1 lead in the seventh, having allowed no runs in his last six innings. The Rockies lost 4-2 when Albert Pujols hit a three-run homer in the eighth, but Fogg put in a gutsy day’s work. And there’s more good news. When Fogg takes the mound today, the Cardinals will be without Pujols, who is on the injured list. The first baseman is 12-for-30 (.400) with three homers, four doubles and 13 RBIs against Fogg. Cardinals starter Chris Carpenter (5-3, 2.57) has been exceptionally tough on the Rockies. Last year’s Cy Young winner is 1-0 with a 0.61 ERA in two starts against Colorado.
