The Nice Guys premiered at Cannes Film Festival last week, and is already set to be one of the top movies of the summer. Russel Crowe and Ryan Gosling star in this 1970’s comedy thriller, which sees the pair investigate the murder of a famous porn star. It’s not one for the kids, then. Release: 03 June

3. Me Before You

Screen stars: Sam Claflin as Will and Emilia Clarke as Lou in Me Before You.

This is going to be a tear-jerker. If you haven’t read the book by Jojo Moyes already, get your hands on it before the film comes out. It follows the tale of small-town girl Louisa Clarke who gets more than she expected when she’s hired to take care of a paralyzed man. Star Sam Clafin is going to be the heart-throb of the summer. Release: 03 June

4. The Secret Life of Pets

The secret life of pets

Another one to suit everyone in the family, The Secret Life of Pets shows us what we all want to know – what our pets get up to when we’re not at home. Light-hearted with a few twists, it’ll be a good one to see on an inevitable rainy summer’s day. Release: 24 June

5. The Legend of Tarzan

Legend of Tarzan

This isn’t like the Tarzan we watched in 1999. The live-action remake features stud Alexander Skarsgard and the gorgeous Margot Robbie in an action adventure movie. Tarzan leaves his new home in London city to return to the jungle as a representative of parliament. Release: 08 July

6. Ghostbusters

Who you gonna call? 30 years after its original release, Ghostbusters returns to cinemas this summer. Chris Hemsworth, Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig are set to star in the sci-fi comedy. Release: 15 July

7. Finding Dory

Finding Dory

Dory stole our hearts as the forgetful blue fish in Finding Nemo in 2003, and now she’s back with her own sequel. Ellen DeGeneres voices Dory, as she travels the seas to find her family. Joined by Nemo, Marlin and a few new characters, this Pixar animation will definitely be worth the wait. Release: 29 July

8. Suicide Squad

It’s the most eagerly awaited thriller of the year. Suicide Squad, starring Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Ben Affleck and Scott Eastwood, sees a secret government agency hire imprisoned supervillains, including Batman, Harley Quinn and the Joker, to carry out perilous tasks in return for lenience in their prison sentences. Release: 05 August
