Bokaro: The mayor of Chas Municipal Corporation (CMC) Bholu Paswan on Wednesday asked female ward members to stop their husbands from coming to the corporation office after finding that they create hurdles and confusion by taking municipal decisions on behalf of their wives.
Paswan is annoyed with daily involvement of the husbands, commonly known as 'parshad pati'.
While the chief executive officer of CMC, Sundeep Kumar said that they have not come out with any written circular in this regard, Paswan has issued a verbal instruction regarding it.
The guards of the CMC campus have been asked by Paswan to stop any parshard pati from wandering inside the office and inform him about it. "Parshad patis are welcome but as residents, not as parshad here. There are many incidents in which the husbands of women ward members are found intervening," said Paswan.
There are 19 women ward members in CMC. Sources said that it is common to see their husbands coming to office and taking decisions in development activities on their behalf. Many female members are unhappy with the mayor's decision but the office staff has heaved a sigh of relief as they were fed up with the prashad patis giving them instructions.
The mayor said, "The government has reserved the ward member seats for women believing that women will be empowered. However, their husbands do not let them work confidently and create hurdle in the pretext of supporting them. I have instructed that the husbands should not attend any official meetings."
