ISLAMABAD: Credible sources revealed that Director General (DG) Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Dr Amlesh did not give up his position and continued to work after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed him to keep on working unless he (premier) returns from London. Last night Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan removed the Director General FIA from his position but the Premier took not of this development and directed Dr Amlesh to continue till his return. Sources told Daily Times that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif asked DG FIA to hold office again last night after his removal by Interior Minister. However, on Tuesday (yesterday) morning he came to the office for work. The FIA did not release any press release so far regarding the removal and re-appointment of its DG. It must be reminded that DG FIA was removed on Monday after the meeting chaired by Minister of Interior, Chaudhry Nisar. The minister also asked the DG FIA to submit its long, medium and short-term plans for the restructuring of the agency and to specify the timeline set for these plans. However, the point of contention between the interior minister and DG FIA could not yet be resolved. In that meeting, Chairman National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and DG immigration and passport also participated. DG FIA was appointed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the month of March when he was serving in Police. He also had been serving the as Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) of Lahore and as deputy director in FIA.
