LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and former Punjab governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government must keep it in mind that the farmers would not take their land to London, USA or get money against it to deposit in the foreign banks. He demanded that the problems of farmers should immediately be resolved and fake cases registered against them should be taken back. Sarwar said that the rulers needed to revisit their ‘wrong’ priorities, as instead of spending a hefty amount of over Rs 200 billion spent on the Orange Line Metro Train (OMT), it could have resolved the farmers’ issues. While talking to media at the farmers’ sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly on Monday, Sarwar regretted that the PML-N government had no mission to help and protect farmers and poor people and is squeezing their last drop of blood with price hikes, taxes etc. Kissan Ittehad Pakistan President Khalid Khokhar, Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed and large number of farmers were present on the occasion. Chaudhary Sarwar said that the PTI fully supports the demands of farmers and would participate in their protests across the country. He said that PML-N’s policies were seriously dangerous for the farmers and the nation, adding that the rulers are lodging fake cases against the farmers to prevent them from asking for their rights. He demanded that fake cases lodged against the poor farmers should be dropped otherwise PTI would come out on the roads to protest against the rulers. Sarwar said that the Pakistani farmers were being compelled to commit suicide, whilst the rulers were busy engaging in trade with India, which actually benefits Indian agriculture. He demanded that the government should focus on resolving Pakistani farmers’ issues and regretted that the PML-N government was launching and implementing projects to gain political mileage instead of welfare of public at large.
