Land scam case: Anti-Corruption Bureau arrests two more persons
Jaipur: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday arrested two more persons in connection with the land scam in which former IAS officer G S Sandhu is already in jail.
The arrested included chairman and secretary of a housing society for alleged irregularities.
ACB had already filed a chargesheet in this case against suspended RAS officer Nishkam Diwakar and three others.
Proprietor of the construction company Shailendra Garg is also in jail. While RAS officer Diwakar and Garg and Sandhu are in judicial custody, two others named in the chargesheet including Bheemsen Garg (father of Shailendra) and Sanjay Bohra (former inspector of cooperative department) are dead. Former UDH minister Shanti Dhariwal has also been questioned by ACB on a few occasions in this case.
An RTI activist had lodged a complaint alleging that Sandhu in connivance with JDA officials granted a single deed of the 28 bighas of land worth about Rs 300 crore as per present market value to Ganpati Constructions at a throwaway price. The land was owned by a housing society at Rajendra Nagar in Jagatpura. The case was registered in 2013 by the ACB team.
"We have arrested Vijay Mehta and Anil Agarwal, chairman and secretary of the housing society," said Bajrang Singh, additional superintendent of police, ACB.
