This girl was to get married on Wednesday

Fathima, the bright 17-year-old commerce student from Konalu village in Puttur, was to get married on Wednesday. Following a complaint, her family decided to postpone the wedding to December, by which time she would be 18. Meanwhile, she has done herself proud by scoring 517 out of 600.

Fathima’s father has suffered paralysis and is not in a position to work. Her grandfather, who looks after Fathima, had decided to get her married on Wednesday. Following a complaint to the local panchayat, the wedding was reschedule. A lecturer in her college said, “She is keen on continuing her studies. She told me that her fiancé wants her to continue her education.” She is likely to do B.Com. in the Government Degree College at Uppinangady.
