Bhopal: An 18-year-old boy drowned at the posh Taranpuskhar swimming pool in Gwalior on Wednesday morning while seven lifeguards on the spot were busy training new members. The pool is managed by Gwalior Municipal Corporation (GMC). Police suspect that the boy accidentally slipped where water entered his nose, leading to his death. According to police, the deceased, Amit Ahuja, a resident of Kampu area, went to the "deeper side" of the pool around 6.20 am when around 200 members were inside the pool.
Surprisingly, no one noticed that he was drowning.
His father, a businessman, alleged negligence on part of the lifeguards and the pool management.
Amit was his only son. SP Harinarayan Chari Mishra told TOI that a case has been registered and action would be taken against those guilty. Officers concerned did not respond to repeated calls.
