PU exam results: Kolar dalit girl gets centum in 5 subjects

Centurm in five subjects. That's what Chetana KS, a girl from Kolar has accomplished in her second PU exams. She now stands third in the state with 593 marks. Chethana, a student of Sahyadri College in Kolar wants to become a doctor, and after that, switch over to the civil services.

Kolar: Centurm in five subjects. That's what Chetana KS, a girl from Kolar has accomplished in her second PU exams. She now stands third in the state with 593 marks. Chethana, a student of Sahyadri College in Kolar wants to become a doctor, and after that, switch over to the civil services.
She is the second of KS Shankarappa and Bharathi's three children.
Her father works as Accounts Superintendent in the KSRTC. "It was always her dream to stand among the state's most meritorious students, and now her dream is fulfilled," he said.
Her mother Bharathi also works in the KSRTC as Junior Assistant. "Chetana is a very talented girl and I hope that she will become a good doctor and serve mankind," she said.
The dalit girl said that her parents were her role models, and that she used to study for two to three hours daily. He aim, she said, is to serve the country with humility, something best accomplished in the civil services, or as a doctor. Chethana also says that she is an ardent reader of newspapers, and her favourite newspaper is The Times of India. "Results have been good, ever since we started the college eight years ago. It is especially heartening that students from the dalit community have excelled and are receiving scholarships for being state toppers," said Udayakumar, the chairman of Sahayadri college.
