A teenager was fatally knocked down by a speeding car near Courtallam on Monday evening. Police said M. Vaidehi (16), a Plus One student from Thiruchittrambalam near Courtallam and her relative K. Malathi (14) of Keezha Kalangal near Tenkasi were waiting at the bus stop in Thiruchittrambalam on Monday evening to take a bus. After the driver of a speeding car lost control over the vehicle, it knocked down Vaidehi and Malathi. Though they were rushed to the Tenkasi Government Hospital, Vaidehi succumbed to her injuries. Driver Marirajan (22) of Seevanallur was arrested.
Student ends life
A girl student committed suicide. Police said the 18-year-old girl, a first year engineering student from Valliyoor, scored low marks in the first semester. As her father Muruganandam, a head constable attached to the Moolaikkaraipatti police station, advised her to concentrate on studies, she consumed poison on Tuesday, police said.
