Childless couple commits suicide

Ahmedabad: A married couple committed suicide by setting themselves ablaze at Hanuman Nagar in Odhav on Monday night. Both of them succumbed to burns on Tuesday afternoon. Family members of the deceased said the couple were depressed as they no children after eight years of marriage.
Police sources said they registered a case of accidental death. "We have come to know that the couple were worried as they had no children but we are yet to gather evidence," added a senior police official.Odhav police soruces said Ashwin Hadiyal, 35, who ran a photo studio married Asha about eight years ago.
According to police sources Ashwin's elder brother Shailesh and his wife also lived with them in the single-room house in Hanumanagar. "On Monday night, Shailesh and his wife were sleeping outside the house while Ashwin and his wife slept inside the room," said a police source. At about 11 pm they noticed smoke coming out of the partly open window.
"Ashwin's brother Shailesh and other neighbors rushed in and broke open the door of the room to find Ashwin and Asha on the floor in flames. Neighbors doused the flames with water and rushed them to civil hospital for treatment," added a police source.
Police officials said that both Ashwin and Asha succumbed to their severe burns on Tuesday afternoon. "Ashwin's brother Shailesh in his statement said that Ashwin and Asha were pained as they had no children and often went to visit religious places to seek blessing for having children," added a senior police official.
