As many as 89.03 per cent of students who appeared in SSLC exams this year from Tiruvannamalai district passed. It is 3.61 per cent higher than last year’s 85.42.
This year, 35,038 students from 477 schools appeared in the exams and 31,196 of them passed in the district.
The rise in pass percentage has also elevated the district’s position in ranking. Last year, the district was 31st.
This year the district has moved up to 29th place.
However, in 2015 the pass percentage of the district saw a leap of 7.58 compared to the previous year. That momentum seems to have slowed down this year. As many as 36 government schools secured centum results.
Toppers
Six students secured 496 marks and shared first rank in the district. Their names and schools are: R.A. Aruna of Dr.V.Genguswamy Naidu Matriculation Higher Secondary School, C. Dhivakar and P. Renuga of Sishya Matric Higher Secondary School, S. Gokhulavasan of SRGDS Matric Higher Secondary School, A.Keerthana and E.Yogitha of Mount St. Joseph Matric. Higher Secondary School in Tiruvannamalai.
Eleven students including two government school students secured 495 and shared district second rank.
