Pass percentage 89 in Tiruvannamalai

As many as 89.03 per cent of students who appeared in SSLC exams this year from Tiruvannamalai district passed. It is 3.61 per cent higher than last year’s 85.42.

This year, 35,038 students from 477 schools appeared in the exams and 31,196 of them passed in the district.

The rise in pass percentage has also elevated the district’s position in ranking. Last year, the district was 31st.

This year the district has moved up to 29th place.

However, in 2015 the pass percentage of the district saw a leap of 7.58 compared to the previous year. That momentum seems to have slowed down this year. As many as 36 government schools secured centum results.

Toppers

Six students secured 496 marks and shared first rank in the district. Their names and schools are: R.A. Aruna of Dr.V.Genguswamy Naidu Matriculation Higher Secondary School, C. Dhivakar and P. Renuga of Sishya Matric Higher Secondary School, S. Gokhulavasan of SRGDS Matric Higher Secondary School, A.Keerthana and E.Yogitha of Mount St. Joseph Matric. Higher Secondary School in Tiruvannamalai.

Eleven students including two government school students secured 495 and shared district second rank.

They are N.Deepa, Government High School, Irumbedu; V.Durga, Lourdu Matha Matric Higher Secondary School, Thandarampet; R.Isaimathi, Sri Ramajayam Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Polur; S.Jayachandran, SRGDS Matric Higher Scondary School, Tiruvannamalai; B.Mathivathani and K.Sangeetha of Mount St. Joseph Matric Higher Secondary School, Tiruvannamalai; S.Megala, Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Perungattur; B.Nithila Priya, Wisdom Vidhyashram Matric Higher Secondary School, Cheyyar; S.Shalini and B.Siva of Sishya Matric Higher Secondary School, Tiruvannamalai and D.Thirumagal of Kingston Matric. Higher Secondary School, Vandavasi.

Twelve students who secured 494 and shared third rank in the district: S.Ganapathy of Bhagavan Higher Secondary School, Tiruvannamalai; R.Akshaya of SRGDS Matric Higher Secondary School;

S.Sadhana and R.Thiruppavai of Mount St.Joseph Matric Higher Secondary School; S.Anitha of Moorthy Matric. Higher Secondary School, Vettavalam; A.Arun Vikram, S.Jayashree, M.Madhusri, S.Malyashree and R.Premavathi of Sishya Matric. Higher Secondary School; A.Dharshini of Aim Matric Higher Secondary School, Aagaram and V.Premkumar of Maharishi Higher Secondary School, Chengam.

Compared to 31st last year, the district moved up slightly to finish 29th among districts
