Vachanashree B. Patil, a student of Shaheen PU College, has scored 590 marks (98.33 per cent). She scored 100 marks each in Physics, Chemistry and Biology and 99 in Mathematics. She wants to be a doctor and take up research in medicine later.

Her father, Basava Kumar Patil, is an advocate and runs the NGO Kalyan Karnatak Pratishtana that works in the fields of education and child welfare. Her mother Hemalatha is a doctor. Abdul Quadeer, secretary of the college committee, said that the girl had always been topping her class. She is likely to be the district topper, he said.
