Girls fared better than boys in Perambalur district this year too. The district registered a pass percentage of 96.52 per cent against 97.25 per cent last year and secured ninth rank in the state as against fifth last year.
As many as 9,577 students – 5,047 boys and 4,530 girls, passed the examination through 136 high and higher secondary schools. Of them, a total of 9,244 students – 4,841 boys and 4,403 girls passed the examination. The overall pass percentage was 96.52 percent against 97.25 per cent last year. The pass percentage was 97.19 for girls and 95.91 percent for boys.
K. Nandakumar, Collector, said that 1,717 students secured centum in four subjects. One student got centum in English, 243 in Mathematics, 423 in Science and 1,050 in Social Science. He said that 74 schools, including 30 government schools and three Adi Dravidar Welfare Department schools registered cent per cent pass.
Trio wants to do medicine
Three students T. Hemalatha from Sri Ramakrishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Perambalur, S. R. Selvaganesh and E. Sowndarya both from the Golden Gates Matriculation HSS in Venkatesapuram who secured 498 marks, got the district first rank and State-level second rank. They all expressed their desire to pursue medicine.
The following four students who got 497 marks, secured the district-level second rank and State-level third rank: A. Ezhilmatha, St. Andrews Mat HSS; K. Lisha, Thanthai Roever Mat. HS, Perambalur; S. Mirnalini, St. Joseph’s Mat. HSS, Elambalur; and R.N. Rashmi Priya, Thanthai Roever Mat. HSS, Elambalur.
The following ten students with 496 marks, secured the district-third rank: S. Alniha Sherin and K. Sri Durga both from Golden Gates Mat HSS; N. Asmitha and A. Ramkarthick both from Sri Ramakrishna Mat HSS; A. Karishma, K. Dharshini and S. Rishiga all from St. Andrews Mat. HSS; R. Harini and R. Nandhini both from Thanthai Roever Mat HS, Perambalur; and K. Keerthana, St. Joseph’s HSS, Elambalur.
