Prashant Bhushan, AAP leaders trade jabs on social media

Bhushan had Tuesday said that Congress would be a “nicer choice” in Punjab and also criticised Kejriwal and his party, which is gearing up for the assembly polls in the state.

A day after former AAP leader Prashant Bhushan slammed Arvind Kejriwal, senior AAP leaders locked horns with him and members of Swaraj Abhiyan. Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav, also a former AAP leader, had founded the Abhiyan.

Bhushan had Tuesday said that Congress would be a “nicer choice” in Punjab and also criticised Kejriwal and his party, which is gearing up for the assembly polls in the state. On Wednesday, AAP leader Ashutosh tweeted, “Prashant Bhushan now discovers virtues and aesthetics in Congress! Amazed!”

Responding to Ashutosh’s post, Bhushan tweeted, “It was AK (Arvind Kejriwal) who tried to form joint govt with Cong after Lok Sabha elections & sent letter to LG on it. I had opposed it.” To this Ashutosh replied, “You mean to say that you are trying to copy? Wow!! But I was given to understand that you had principles!!!”

“I have fought Cong & its corruption throughout my life. I exposed Bofors, 2G, Coalgate, Air India etc. Unfortunately AAP became more unscrupulous,” retorted Bhushan.

In an official statement, the Swaraj Abhiyan said, “… Prashant Bhushan had compared two evils and had stated that the AAP has reduced itself even lower than the Congress party”.”

It added, “It is well known how… Arvind Kejriwal wanted to form a government with Congress after the Lok Sabha elections. And it was Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav who strongly opposed the move.”

However, AAP leaders rubbished the claims made by the the Swaraj Abhiyan.
