New Delhi will purchase Israeli Spyder air defense systems worth $270 million, local media reported.

NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — According to The Economic Times, the contract with Israeli Rafael Advance Systems will provide an upgrade to Indian home-bred military equipment.

Currently India is enhancing its air defense with short-range surface-to-air missiles (SRSAM) developed in 2011.

New Delhi is expected to build two air defense regiments accounting of total 1,800 missiles.
