Jaitley hits out at Shourie over Modi criticism
NEW DELHI:It is time to overlook fringe elements and focus on the government’s achievements, feels finance minister Arun Jaitley, while admitting that their statements did send out the wrong message.
Speaking to India Today TV on the eve of the second anniversary of the Narendra Modi government, Jaitley said hotheads of the right-wing have been reined in over the last one year.
“I think it is clear that such statements do send out the wrong message but you will see in the last year many of these elements have been checked.”
The finance minister also brushed aside the strong criticism of PM Modi’s way of functioning by Arun Shourie who served as Union minister in the Vajpayee Cabinet. “Where was Arun Shourie with his criticism two years ago? Did he suddenly find Mr Modi narcissitic? When comments are based on personal ambitions not being satisfied, I don’t attach much importance to those comments.”
Recently, Shourie had launched a no-holds barred attack on Modi claiming that he showed the qualities of the dark triad: narcissim, Machiavellianism and psychopathy.
