Traditionally, narikuravas and kuruvikarans are hunters. They lead nomadic lives and rarely put down roots. But many from the community have recently pursued higher education.
"Due to restrictions on use of country-made guns and bird hunting, the community is involved in bead-making and jewellery designing and making," Bharathi said.
