Hyderabad: Neighbour kills techie for money
Hyderabad: A 26-year-old software engineer was murdered by his neighbour for money near Lingampally railway station on Monday. The incident came to light on Wednesday after police acted on the missing complaint lodged by the victim's family.
Vallipalli Hashim, 26, son of Gagarin from Gadwal in Mahbubnagar, was the relative of former CPM MP, P Madhu.
He had joined TCS as a software engineer five days ago and was staying at a rented accommodation at Balkampet. There, he became friends with his neighbour, S Naresh Reddy, 29, ten days ago.
On Monday, Hashim left his office around 6.30 pm. While on his way back home, he got a phone call from Reddy. "Reddy told Hashim that he was near Cyber Towers and asked him to pick him up," Gachibowli inspector J Ramesh said.
From Cyber Towers, Reddy took Hashim to Lingampally railway station saying he had to meet a friend there. At the station, Reddy made Hashim park his bike and took him to an isolated place adjacent to the tracks.
"Reddy then asked Hashim to lend him Rs 10,000, but the latter said he could give the money only after reaching home. Reddy then took Hashim to a culvert under the tracks, saying it was a short cut to the parking lot. Once in the culvert, Reddy attacked Hashim on the head with a boulder and killed him," the inspector said. He then stole Hashim's 1.5-tola gold chain, wallet and bike.
Meanwhile, Hashim's worried family of Hashim approached TCS on Tuesday morning to know about his whereabouts, after which they lodged a missing complaint with the Gachibowli police. Cops analysed Hashim's call data records and narrowed down on Reddy. They later caught him near the upcoming metro rail station at Kukatpally.
Based on information provided by him, they recovered the body. Reddy was remanded in judicial custody.
