Minister orders probe into embezzlement of Rs 3 crore

SONEPAT: Haryana Minister of State for Mining Nayab Singh Saini today directed Sonepat Deputy Commissioner KM Pandurang to constitute a committee to probe the allegations of embezzlement of Rs 3 crore in the purchase of water coolers and dustbins by the Block Development and Panchayat Officer and Panchayat Officer of the Gohana development block.

Haryana Minister of State for Mining Nayab Singh Saini today directed Sonepat Deputy Commissioner KM Pandurang to constitute a committee to probe the allegations of embezzlement of Rs 3 crore in the purchase of water coolers and dustbins by the Block Development and Panchayat Officer and Panchayat Officer of the Gohana development block.

A complaint was lodged by chairman of the Haryana Backward Classes Corporation Ram Chander Jangra at a meeting of the District Grievances and Redressal Committee, which was presided over by the minister.

In reply to a complaint relating to illegal mining in villages in the Yamuna River belt, Sonepat SDM Nishant Yadav said at some places, mining was going on done up to 20 feet. The District Mining Officer had been asked to initiate action for the recovery of penalty and royalty from the mining contractors.

As many as 50 complaints pertaining to different departments were taken up and officers of the department concerned were asked to submit reports on the action taken. He asked the officers of the Public Health Department to ensure supply of drinking water in every village.

Later, talking to mediapersons, the minister alleged the opposition parties were attempting to misguide the people over the Prakash Singh Committee report.
