Legends Cricket Club defeated Armaf Sterling Parfums by five wickets in the final of the Arabian Super League T20 Season 1 at the Durham Cricket Ground, Helio, Ajman on Friday.
Winning the toss, Armaf Sterling opted to bat and got a good start with their opener Bilal Khalid (62 not out off 45 balls) being the major contributor and Thariq Aman (22 off 20 balls) and Salman Randhawa (16 off 20 balls) also lending good support. Some good pinch hitting in the end by Waheed Ahmed (15) and Shafakath Ali (10) helped Armaf to reach a competitive total of 158-7 in the allotted 20 overs. Sajjad Malok was the spearhead of Legends bowling line-up, picking two wickets in his four overs after giving away only 18 runs. He was well supported by Mohammed Ashfaq (2) and Mohammed Zohaib, Godson Louie and Ajmal Masahir, who all picked one wicket each.
In the run chase, Legends had a big blow initially losing their explosive opener Shehzad Ahmed for just 7 runs. But Waseem Rana (36 off 17 balls) looked solid before he got out at the score of 63 in 6.3 overs. Waheed Ahmed gave another blow to Legends by picking up the wicket of Saqib in the same. But the 74-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Muhamadullah Khan (43 off 29 balls) and Vishnu Vijay (41 off 34 balls) took Legends safely to the target in the first ball of the 19th over. Vishnu finished the match with a huge six.
Former Pakistani cricketer Hasan Raza chief guest for the final and presented the prizes. Following prizes were awarded: Best batsman (highest scorer): Abdullah Azhar of Panthers Cricket Club (scored 260 runs). Best bowler (most wickets): Muhammed Yousuf of Red Flowers Tourism (15 wickets). Man of the tournament: Abdullah Azhar of Panthers (260 runs, 8 wickets and 1 catch). Highest individual score in an innings: Shehzad Mahmoud of Legends (123 runs in 49 balls).
