My turban is a matter of pride for me: Indeep Bakshi

This Punjabi munda struck a chord with youngsters with his track, 'Saturday Saturday'. Three years on, Indeep Bakshi has created a niche for himself in the industry with his style and choice of content. Having released his latest naughty track, 'Bad Wali Feeling', the producer, composer and singer, who visited the city recently, opened up to Pune Times; from doing songs dedicated to Punjabi culture to working with Sunny Leone soon.
It was at Shah Rukh Khan’s Eid party that Karan Johar heard 'Saturday Saturday'. “Both found it peppy, and since its theme suited that of 'Humpty Sharma ki Dulhania', they loved it. While I wasn’t prepared for it to become such a hit, things just fell in place,” said the architect-turned-musician. Indeep’s latest track, 'Bad Wali Feeling', shot in Dubai’s scenic locales, also features Neha Kakkar’s vocals.

One might wonder why his turban gave way to a beanie. “Many of my fans weren’t happy about me sporting a turban and holding a drink in my songs. The turban is a matter of great pride for me and not wanting to hurt sentiments, I began sporting a beanie,” said Indeep, adding that he is now working on two songs completely dedicated to Punjabi culture and the pride of wearing a turban and kada. “My upcoming bhangra songs, Singh Honde Badshah te Kaur Hundi Queen and Maharaja, will see me donning a complete Sikh avatar. These will be an ode to our culture,” he adds.
Amidst other plans, Indeep will soon feature in a track, 'Paheli Bari Ki', with Sunny Leone. “I love Sunny’s work. While I haven’t interacted or worked with her before, I’m looking forward to this project. The song will be shot by the end of this month,” said Indeep, signing off.
