Thanks to his newly-acquired fame, Darshan Kumaar says he finds it difficult to go around in Delhi without being recognised. The 'Mary Kom' actor, who grew up in Kishangarh, near Vasant Kunj, says that he misses visiting places like Mandi House, from where he began his acting career as a theatre student. 'It's true that now it's not easy for me to roam as freely as I used to earlier.
Now, even if I go out to buy vegetables, people wonder how can I come out and do that. And it's not just in Delhi, but even in Mumbai. Recently, I had to go out to buy eggs and the reaction of the shopkeeper was 'Arey aap kaise aa sakte hain?' I miss visiting places like Mandi House in Delhi, of which I have so many memories. I started taking acting classes there from NK Sharma and later joined Naseeruddin Shah. I have performed many plays in Delhi with Naseer sir and it's always an amazing feeling to perform in my own city,' he says, adding that it's because of his theatre experience that he understands the nuances of acting well. 'I have learnt my basics of acting from theatre, the first is that one need not act in front of the camera, one should be real and second is that what comes from the heart touches the heart, so always be honest with your preparation of the role,' he says.

Given his film commitments, he has little time for theatre now, but Darshan says that he will continue working in theatre. 'Now I am writing an English play called 'Same Time Next Year' ' a story about a foreigner girl who comes to Delhi, meets a boy here, departs and meets him again. I am planning to open that play in Delhi,' he says.
