announced Wednesday that it would extend its support to Apple Pay of Apple Inc.

in Singapore. According to the company, it was pleased to offer merchants the ability to accept credit, as well as, debit card payments via Apple Pay, which is transforming mobile payments with an easy, secure and private way to pay in a quick and convenient way. Global Payments disclosed that its robust suite of payments solutions were fully enabled in Singapore, enabling in-store and iOS app merchants to offer their customers the convenience of paying quickly and easily with Apple Pay. The company's SVP Global Product and Innovation, Frank Young, said that "Following support for merchants successfully offering Apple Pay in the US, UK, Canada and China, Global Payments is pleased to offer merchants the ability to accept Apple Pay in Singapore, the second market for this groundbreaking service in Asia. Our continued commitment to leading payments technology across the globe allows us to be at the forefront in delivering this innovative and secure payments solution to merchants in the Asia Pacific markets that we serve." Global Payments said that security and privacy is at the core of Apple Pay. The advantage of using the app is that the actual card numbers are not stored on the device, nor on Apple servers. The company added that instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted and securely stored in the Secure Element on the user's device. On Wednesday, shares of the company traded 1.06 percent down.
