Cool gift for Metro passengers

Kolkata: A new AC plant will start operating at Chandni Chowk station from Thursday onwards. This measure was undertaken by Metro authorities as part of 'Humsafar Week' which aims towards providing better amenities at Metro stations.
Metro spokesperson Indrani Banerjee said, "Metro general manager A K Mittal will interact with passengers at Chandni Chowk from 6pm onwards on Thursday. The existing AC plant at the station is 20-years-old.Though it was regularly maintained, a replacement was in order. The new AC plant will have capacity of 200 tonne refrigeration and will be more energy efficient."
Better security arrangements to check suicides, training staff to be more passenger-friendly, water coolers and vending machines at stations are some of the measures taken under this programme to celebrate this week.tnn
