Fake Indian notes of Rs55 lakh face value seized in Nepal

Nepla police on Wednesday arrested a Pakistani woman and 13 others including five Indians and seized fake Indian currency notes with a face value of around Rs 55 lakh and counterfeit US dollars worth $ 19,500.

Raxaul: Nepla police on Wednesday arrested a Pakistani woman and 13 others including five Indians and seized fake Indian currency notes with a face value of around Rs 55 lakh and counterfeit US dollars worth $ 19,500.
All the arrested persons are being quizzed by the intelligence officials and officials of special bureau of metropolitan police, in Kathmandu.

This is for the second time in less than one-and-a-half month that a second Pakistani national has been arrested with huge Indian fake currency notes. The record haul of fake US dollar in Nepal has surprised everyone.
DIG of special bureau of police Bam Bahadur Bhandari of Kathmandu while addressing newsmen on Tuesday said acting on a tip-off, police arrested one woman near Tribhuwan International airport on Saturday and recovered fake US dollars and Indian currency.
During interrogation, the Pak woman disclosed her name as Shama Naz. "Police also seized her passport and examined it to verify her name and address," said the DIG adding that she has claimed that this is for the first time that she has brought US dollars to Nepal to utilize it in Indian territory. According to police, she is an active member of a fake note racket of Pakistan.
Police swung into action and arrested 13 persons from different places in Kathmandu and recovered fake currency from their possesion.
Police have also identified five persons belonging to Jamui district of Bihar-Arun Kumar, Baidyanath Gupta, Vijay Sharma, Yusuf Khan and Jaisuf.
Nepal police are verifying the names and addresses of all the arrested persons to nab other members of the gang.
