State prepares to get Bidhannagar selected in next list of smart cities

KOLKATA: Following the boost that the state government received after New Town getting selected in the second list of the smart city scheme, Preparations have already started to get the other three approved townships- Bidhannagar, Haldia and Durgapur to get selected in the next phases of the smart city scheme, with Bidhannagar leading among the three towns for the next phase of selection.
New Town, that was selected in the second list by the Centre on Tuesday was originally placed on 30 ^thposition by the Centre. Bidhannagar as of now is placed in 44^th position and could be considered to be selected in the next list.
"Work on preparing the detail project report of the smart city plan, that has to be submitted by June 30 is going on," said Bidhannagar corporation mayor Sabyasachi Dutta.
