Spare tyre bursts on bus, 6 injured

KOLKATA: Six people were injured when a spare tyre inside a Sealdah-bound bus burst on Tuesday. The incident took place as the vehicle from Howrah was crossing Burrabazar.
The tyre was kept behind the driver's seat, though rule says it should be hooked behind the bus. The impact of the explosion was such that the glass panes of the bus shattered and the shards struck passengers' face and head.The loud blast triggered panic in the congested business district.
The injured were taken to Marwari Relief Hospital from where they were discharged after being administered first aid. "We have seized the bus and detained the driver and conductor," said a Burrabazar police officer.
