Police said the girls were produced before the children welfare committee (CWC), Phulbani, on Tuesday. The accused Jaya Digal, 65, of Bilu Padara and Bapuji Kanhar, 25, of Budhakamba were produced in court after medical tests, police said.
Jaya allegedly raped a 15-year old girl of the same village on Saturday.
A woman passing by the same road found the girl crying and took her home. The girl's father lodged a police complaint. The 65-year-old man was on the run since the incident. Police nabbed him from Phiringia, when we got information about his return from Bhubaneswar, said OIC of Phiringia police station Dhiren Behera.
In the second incident, the accused Bapuji Kanhar, 25, allegedly raped a student of Jayalamba village at Phiringia for 10 days from April 19, 2016, in his house at Budhakamba promising to marry her. When he refused to marry her, the girl lodged a police complaint, Behera added.
