Gujarat to abolish NRI quota in medical colleges

The Gujarat government has decided to bring an ordinance to abolish 15% NRI quota from self-financed medical colleges. Health minister and government spokesperson Nitin Patel said, "Ordinance to abolish NRI quota will be approved by the cabinet on Wednesday as majority of benefits was taken by non-Gujarati students from other states."

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat government has decided to bring an ordinance to abolish 15% NRI quota from self-financed medical colleges. Health minister and government spokesperson Nitin Patel said, "Ordinance to abolish NRI quota will be approved by the cabinet on Wednesday as majority of benefits was taken by non-Gujarati students from other states."
Patel said the quota will be converted to management quota seats.
To ensure Gujarat students get maximum benefit, changes in rules for admission in management quota seats like student should be a domicile of Gujarat and should have passed Class 12 from the state would be made.
