Auto driver dies in hospital, kin choke traffic in Ratibad
Bhopal: Family members of a man, who died in a hospital on Monday night, staged a chakka jam for close to an hour on Barkhedi Kalan main road near Ratibad here on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was an auto driver. A day earlier, police during vehicle checking drive had seized his vehicle for not having proper documents. The family alleged that he died due to tension and cops had also beaten him up.
On receiving information, Ratibad police reached the spot to clear the chakka jam.
Police lifted the body from road and sent it for autopsy. In the evening, police said that as per the autopsy report, the man died of suspected poisoning.
The deceased, Om Prakash, 35, was a resident of Barkhedi Kalan in Ratibad. Cops said when the Ape auto was seized, the driver introduced himself as Kamal Singh. The reason as to why Om Prakash introduced himself as Kamal Singh is not known, cops added.
Additional superintendent of police (traffic) Sameer Yadav said, "Vehicle was seized and driver was asked to come with complete documents at traffic police station." "However, when documents were not presented, the matter was forwarded to court. There is no question of misbehaving or beating anyone," he added.
Those protested demanded compensation for aggrieved family. Officials said that investigation into the matter remains underway.
