Absconding oil thief arrested from Panigate area

Crime branch on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly stealing crude oil from pipelines in Siddhpur taluka of Patan district. Naresh Kahar (30) has been absconding for over a year, was nabbed from Panigate area. Police said that earlier 11 persons were arrested for the same offence but Kahar and two others were absconding.

Vadodara: Crime branch on Tuesday arrested a man for allegedly stealing crude oil from pipelines in Siddhpur taluka of Patan district. Naresh Kahar (30) has been absconding for over a year, was nabbed from Panigate area.
Police said that earlier 11 persons were arrested for the same offence but Kahar and two others were absconding.
On October 6 last year, Kahar and 13 others stole oil from Koyali - Sanganer Pipeline (KSPL) of the Indian Oil Corporation.
The accused had drilled hole in the underground pipeline passing through Jokhdi village of Sidhpur taluka and welded a valve on it before tapping the highly inflammable oil.
Police had arrested 11 persons included four -- Jayesh Thakkar, Amarsinh Rathod, Bhagwansinh Chauhan and Sukhwindersinh Marokh --from the city. They were arrested by Patan local crime branch.
