Lovers jump into Sabarmati river, kill themselves

Ahmedabad: A couple from Vijapur in Mehsana district ended life by jumping into Sabarmati river from Gandhi Bridge early on Tuesday morning, after tying their hands together. Riverfront (W) police said that the lovelorn couple may have ended their lives after not finding a way to build a future together.
According to police investigators, Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) fished out bodies of Vipul Thakor, 24, and Binal Vaghela, 19, both residents of Mahadevpura in Vijapur, at 3.47 am on Tuesday.They had identity documents on them.
"We came to know that Vipul and Binal, living in the same area, had been in love for long. However, Vipul's family made him marry another girl two years ago. The duo kept up their relationship, but recently both families protested," said an investigator.
AFES fished out two more bodies on Tuesday.
