Honouring young writer: Emily Oshin, a student of Mysure Christ Public School and author of the novella 'The Three Stars,' will be felicitated at the Government LP School auditorium, Kodaly in Thrissur district in Kerala on Thursday. Kerala's popular writer Sara Joseph will honour the young writer. Professor Shanmukhadas, literary critic will talk abou t the book on the occasion.
The event is organized by the Grameena Vayanashala group. Fifteen-year-old Emily Oshin is the daughter of Mysuru-based social activist and lawyer P P Baburaj and Koppala district education coordinator Usha Ambrose.
Visual art courses: Vaijayanthi Chitrakala University has invited applications for BVA degree course and a two-year visual art course for SSLC pass students. Scholarships: Sarojini Damodaran Foundation has invited applications from economically backward students for availing Vidyadhan scholarship. Students who have passed SSLC examination scoring above 90% or A+ grade in all the subjects are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Training for disabled: The National Association for the Blind and Industrial Training Centre for the Blind and Deaf will provide a one-year free industrial training for blind and deaf persons in Yadavagiri Industrial Area. Candidates aged between 16 and 25 years are eligible to apply. Selected candidates will be given a stipend and lunch facilities. School excels in SSLC results: Sri Vidya English Medium High School, Hootagalli, has secured five distinctions and 11 first classes and 85% overall pass percentage in SSLC examinations. Principal and staff members have appreciated the performance of the students.
Nominated: S Murugesh, a resident of KR Mohalla has been nominated as the president of Karnataka State Bhartiya Tailik Sahu Rathore Mahasabha (KSBTSRM) recently. Murugesh has been serving the organization since the past 15 years. Members of KSBTSRM congratulated him on the occasion.

Violinist to perform at Sydney fest: City-based violinist Manjunath will present a concert at the Sydney festival to be held at the Riverside theatre, Paramatt,a Sydney on June 12. He will perform a Jugalbandi along with Grammy award winner Pandith Vishwamohan Bhat. Manjunath will also present a violin concert at the Indian Consulate in Dubai on May 27. He will be accompanied on the mridangam by Karaikudi Mani and Giridhar Udupa on ghatam. The Indian ambassador to Abu Dhabi will be the chief guest.
Book release: Mysore-based cartoonist Nagendra Babu has penned a book 'Babu's banter: A cartoonist's retrospect', which will be released on May 28 at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat in Bengaluru. As part of the book release, he has also hosted a two-day cartoon exhibition on May 28 and 29. Karnataka Gandhi Smaraka Nidi chairman H Sreenivasiah will release the book. Indian Institute of Cartoonists managing trustee VG Nagendra and others will participate.
