Allahabad: Local Congress workers on Tuesday named a public toilet after veteran Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor. They did so in protest against the thespian's tweets against the naming of sundry monuments and public places after the Nehru-Gandhi family and suggesting, instead, that they be renamed after Bollywood icons.
City Congress committee workers, led by Irshad Ullah, put the poster up at a toilet at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital.
The poster, which had 'Swachch Bharat Mission' written under it, was removed later. Irshad Ullah said, "Rishi Kapoor seems to be unaware of the contribution of Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi in maintaining a plurarist society."
He said, "Since he wants to see his name inscribed on some monuments, we are doing so and with ceremony. Although he should have been deserving of this as well, like the great Lata Mangeshkar or Sachin Tendulkar." The actor had, on May 20 and 21, gone ahead to even put up a map of Delhi depicting the places named after Nehru-Gandhi family members.
