Chandigarh: A recently-promoted 2012 AGMUT cadre IPS officer Navdeep Singh Brar, whose stay in Chandigarh had been anticipated for the next term, was transferred to Daman Diu & Dadra Nagar Haveli (DD&DNH) with effect from Tuesday. Brar was promoted along with another 2012 batch AGMUT cadre IPS Guriqbal Singh Sidhu on the rank of SP on May 22.
Though Sidhu was transferred to Arunanchal Pradesh, Brar was expected to stay here since his wife is a judicial officer in Punjab.
The MHA has transferred IPS officers including Eish Singhal and Ravi Kumar Singh from DD&DNH to Chandigarh against two recent vacated posts of IPS officers. Singhal is a 2010 AGMUT cadre IPS officer and Singh is a 2012-batch IPS officer. A senior official said, "The development is significant in view of a recent communication to adviser, UT Parimal Rai from MHA that It has come to notice of the competent authority some IAS/IPS officers of AGMU cadre who are under transfer are bringing extraneous pressure for the cancellation of their transfer order."
The letter, a copy of which is available with TOI, has seven points and undersigned by director (services) A V Dharma Reddy under the subject of "Extraneous pressure/influence brought by certain officers of AGMUT cadre for cancellation of transfer orders."
The fifth and sixth point of the letter stated, "It came to the notice of competent authority that some IAS/IPS officers especially of AGMUT cadre who are under transfer are bringing extraneous pressure for cancellation of their transfer orders. It will be better to bring to the notice of IAS/IPS officers to desist from bringing extraneous/ political pressure for retention of issued transfer orders." The letter was received in the office of adviser Parimal Rai earlier this month.
