Dancers in ‘‘Magic on Broadway’’

After an exciting top notch dance performance which kept audiences on their toes last weekend, “Magic on Broadway” show presented by Breakthrough Productions will be screened on Zambezi Magic. The dance show was filmed while being presented live on Friday and Saturday at Reps Theatre and it will be on Zambezi Magic to give it international audience and help to showcase Zimbabwean dance talent.MultiChoice Zimbabwe public relations manager Liz Dziva confirmed the development.

“This is a musical show produced by talented Zimbabwean dancer, dance teacher and choreographer Timikha Fisher under her Breakthrough Productions banner and designed to be an entertainment for all ages featuring nearly a dozen top local dancers,” she said.

“It will be presented on Zambezi Magic channel and it is hoped this will get a good broadcast slot and high viewership from across Africa.

“We are excited to be involved with this show, and we greatly admire the talent and work of Fisher, who is a superb example of how world-class our arts and entertainment performers are.

“We encourage support for her shows and we are delighted that it will be screened on Zambezi Magic, which is a channel created to showcase productions including drama, comedy, music and dance, as well as other genres of entertainment.”

The “Magic on Broadway” shows are open to the public as a presentation suitable for family viewing.

Breakthrough Productions is a multi-cultural dance group founded by National Arts Merit Awards winner of most outstanding female dancer accolade (2015), Fisher, who has also won international awards for her dance work.

She was the first Zimbabwean to be invited to the World Championships of Performing Arts hosted in Los Angeles, where she won a gold medal for tap, a silver medal for ballet and a bronze medal for jazz.

Breakthrough uses all dance types and other art forms to provide entertainment activities and all its dancers are trained in classical ballet, tap, jazz, acrobatics, ballroom, Latin and hip hop.

“Magic on Broadway” is a show about a little girl whose hopes and dreams focus on being able to dance and sing on Broadway and, with a little help from her fairy godmother, she learns this can be done through hard work and dedication.

The show takes audiences on a magical journey of song and dance through classic Broadway shows including “Fame”, “Chicago”, “Les Miserables”, “The Phantom of the Opera”, “The Lion King” and others.
