Kangra, May 24
The strike by the Central University Sangharsh Morcha entered the 22nd day today. The protesters have been demanding the establishment of the CUHP campus in Dehra. They took out a rally and three of them sat on a hunger strike.
Pawan Sharma, coordinator of the morcha, said the government was testing the patience of the people.
The protesters passed through the main markets of the town and raised slogans ‘Har qurbani ab hum denge — apne haq ko cheen ke lenge’, ‘Jaago jaago Dehra walo — apne haq par pade na daaka’.
Sharma said a step-motherly treatment was being meted out to Dehra.
He said Kuldeep Parmar of Malta, Satya Vir Sharma of Bharhoan village and Sardar Joginder Singh of Bholta panchayat were on a hunger strike.
They had taken the place of Manoj Thakur and Ranjan Sharma. The morcha coordinator asked the people to reach Dehra on May 27 to block the national highway for an hour.
