Over the course of three months the cumin group was given a mixture of 140 ml yogurt and cumin powder while ne non-cumin group was given 140 ml yogurt only!

After the 3-month period, it has been found that the cumin group lost a total of 14 kg and 14, 64% more fat than the women from the non-cumin group, who lost only 4, 91% fat.

What makes this spice so effective in burning fat is the fact that it contains phytosterols, potent ingredients which prevent cholesterol accumulation in the body. Moreover, it has been scientifically confirmed that cumin acts as an amazing metabolism booster.

      I did some fact-checking and all I found were dubious sources. The fact that they had just 44 people in both groups indicates to me that they started out with more on the experiment side, but a couple dropped out, then they cherry-picked the control side to arrive at their wildly improbable results.
      If you have an overweight person and put them on a 500 cal/day diet, that’s basically starvation. 500 calories is 3 eggs. Think about that. Since diabetes and obesity are usually linked, putting these people on a starvation diet probably killed off some of the participants which is why you have that odd figure.
      The experiment group got 3 GRAMS of cumin per day!?? That’s a lot of cumin. Was the caloric value included in or excluded from the 500 calories in their diet? At such high doses, you’d see the same results if the subjects had been taking epsom salts, xylitol, or chilli powder. The same diarrhea as well.
      So, no, this does not prove that cumin causes an increase in weight loss since they didn’t compare it to any other experiments done on weighty loss involving similar parameters. If you put anybody on a 500 calirie a day diet you’ll definitely see weight loss, and after three months I don’t think it would be 4 kilos or 4% body weight as the original study abstract stated.
      Plus the numbers don’t add up. The experiment group lost 14 kilos, which is 65% more than the control group which lost only 4? That doesn’t sound right at all.

        @Sun Rabbit, excellent analysis check. My conclusions was almost the same, but it points out that these so called “tests” couldn’t be scientifically correct, but more a statistics misinterpretation , consciously unconsciously doesn’t matter.

      This is such BS. The reason they lost weight is because they had only 500 calories a day. And further BS that those not taking cumin only lost 4 kg in three months of 500 calories a day? No way in hell. They would lose that much in 2 weeks with that diet.

      THE way to lose weight is: Don’t take in more carbs then you burn. Tadaa! You never get fat if you follow this guideline. You can eat whatever you want only the above matters.3

      Green tea extract is a better way to lose weight. I personally have been making a variation of the super expensive pill known as “Protandim” and it has green tea extract in it as well. I’ll just say this: cut out most sugars and ALL soda (pop) and you can eat almost anything else fattening and still lose weight. Being active will of course boost the results A LOT but I have seen weight loss even without working out. If anyone is wanting to know what is in Protandim, here ya go:

      Milk Thistle extract, Bocopa extract, Ashwagandha root, Green Tea extract, Turmeric extract.

      I add in some CoQ10 powder (EXPENSIVE!) and would like to throw in some Marine Phytoplankton (expensive also!) when I get the extra cash. I’m actually seeing great results and I don’t have to spend 70$ a bottle because obviously, I make it at home.
