Srinagar, May 24: Army today said it organised a health fair titled Chinar ‘Sehat Hazar Nemat’ Mela in collaboration with district administration and NGOs at Degree College Ground Pattan in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A defence spokesman said the mega medical camp was organised with an aim to provide the locals with specialist medical care for which they need to often travel to Srinagar. “A concerted effort was undertaken by Army to approach doctors from Srinagar, Baramulla and the area of Pattan to provide specialist medical services to the people,” he said.
The spokesman said more than 20 specialist doctors including lady gynecologist, medical specialist, dentist, Unani Doctor and Homeopathy doctors from the District Administration and Army came together. “A number of NGOs working in the fields of health and child development also participated in this Health Mela,” he said, adding that the Health Record Cards were given to each and every patient who registered for the camp so that necessary follow up treatment could be made.
The spokesman said the Commander of Haiderbeig Army camp Brigadier, S H Naqvi interacted with the beneficiaries who turned up in overwhelming numbers crossing over 2000. “On this special occasion, he also presented six wheel chairs to special children from Pattan Tehsil. The Commander at the outset conveyed his gratitude to the locals, district Administration and NGOs for their whole hearted participation in making this event a success.
“Impressing upon the importance of health, he said that health is wealth and healthy persons contribute positively towards their family and society at large. The Commander also assured that this mega medical camp was not a onetime measure and that a follow up of the treatment will be continued at nearest Army Camp on a monthly basis,” he added.
