Japanese sensation A Shin Hikari tore apart a rock-solid field on his European debut to win the Prix d'Ispahan at Chantilly.

The Masanori Sakaguchi-trained five-year-old simply laughed at his rivals, many of whom possessed Group One-winning form, in the hands of Yutaka Take.

Vadamos made most of the running, with 74-10 chance A Shin Hikari never far too away in second.

But once Take and his partner quickened inside the final two furlongs there was only ever going to be one winner.

Dariyan, winner of the Prix Ganay on his last start, at least made an honourable fist of it, but he was absolutely bossed by A Shin Hikari, who won by 10 lengths without his jockey ever getting serious.

Ganay runner-up Silverwave finished third, a fraction ahead of Vadamos.

My Dream Boat slightly missed the break for the Clive Cox team, but made encouraging late gains to finish sixth.

Yorkshire raider Mondialiste, trained by David O'Meara, was never a factor, with last season's French Derby winner New Bay similarly disappointing.

The Group One over nine furlongs was won last year by Solow, with Manduro, Goldikova (twice) and Cirrus Des Aigles also on the roll of honour.

A Shin Hikari was unsurprisingly slashed in the betting for the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot, for which he is now favourite.

Sakaguchi confirmed Ascot will be the next port of call, but was quick to rule A Shin Hikari out of the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The trainer said: "He did that very well. The ground was our only worry, but he won magnificently.

"To try running in French races was the choice of his owners.

"He will run at Ascot and will then return to Japan as the Arc trip will be too far him."
