BENGALURU: Like every day, auto driver T T Uma Shankar was cleaning his vehicle when he noticed two sealed covers on the back seat of his auto on Tuesday morning. Soon it struck Uma Shankar that two college staff from Rajajinagar had travelled in his auto the previous day and had these bundles with them.
"I realized these were answerscripts. Two men had flagged my vehicle outside ASC Degree College, Rajajinagar, on Monday afternoon, saying they wanted to go to Central College.
I remembered them mentioning the bundles contained B.com answerscripts," said Uma Shankar. Knowing how important these papers were for students who had written the exam, Uma Shankar, a resident of Raja Rajeshwari Nagar, rushed to Central College and met officials there. College authorities had on Monday night lodged a complaint with Ulsoor Gate police about the missing answerscripts.
"We had no clue where the answerscripts were and which auto they had travelled in; tracing the auto would have been really tough. Neither had the college staffers noted down the auto's registration number nor did they have any other detail. It was sheer negligence on the part of the management which chose to ferry the answerscripts in an auto instead of a car or jeep," said police.
Earlier on Monday, Nagaraju and Ramakrishna, both non-teaching staff with ASC College, travelled in Uma Shankar's autorickshaw with six bundles of answerscripts of Bcom IV semester students. However, the duo got off the auto with just four bundles. It was only while completing formalities of handing over answerscripts that they realized two bundles were missing.
