Haryana board Class-10 results: Farmer’s daughter Panchkula topper

Neha Sharma of Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Hangola, topped in the Panchkula district with 93.8 % marks in Class 10 Haryana Board of School Education exams. The results were declared on Sunday.

Hailing from Hangola village in Raipur Rani block, Neha wants to become a doctor. Her father Rakesh Kumar is a farmer and mother Urmila Devi a homemaker.

“I used to study for 4-5 hours daily. I did not take tuitions and had no idea that I will be the topper,” she said, giving credit to the teachers for her success.

She doesn’t have a Facebook account and loves watching English films. Her medium was Hindi. “Hangola is a remote village and only a single bus goes there. There is hardly any exposure for students. In view of this, the scale of achievement is bigger,” said Anju Grover principal of the school where Neha studies.

LABOURER’S DAUGHTER IS SECOND TOPPER

Sunaina Dhiman with 93.6% is second in the district. She also hails from Hangola village and passed out from village’s government school in Hindi medium.

Her father Gurnaam Singh is a dailywager and mother Gurdevi a homemaker. Sunaina aspires to become a doctor. “I am indebted to my teachers for all the guidance,” she said.

SCHOOL CRICKET CAPTAIN IS JOINT SECOND TOPPER

Yogesh Kumar of Sarthak Government Integrated Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 12-A, Panchkula, shares the district’s second-topper spot by scoring 93.6%. His father Gopal Dass is a clerk with the power department and mother Rita a housewife. The family resides in Sector 19, Panchkula. “I used to study 2-3 hours daily. I took tuitions in mathematics and science. My teachers and parents supported me,” he said. He was the school cricket’s team captain and had played at district-level. “I want to do electrical engineering,” he said.

SALESMAN’S SON IS THIRD IN DISTRICT

Yash Jain of Sarthak Government Integrated Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 12-A, Panchkula, is third in the district with 93.2% marks.

His father Ramesh Jain works as a salesman in a shop in Sector 7, Panchkula, and mother Mamta is a housewife. The family lives in Sector 12, Panchkula.

“I did not take tuitions but the school provided me free coaching,” he said. He took the exam in English medium. “I want to pursue computer engineering,” he said.

WASHERMAN’S DAUGHTER SHARES THIRD SPOT

Shivani Kanojia of Sarthak Government Integrated Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 12-A, Panchkula, has also scored 93.2% marks to share the third spot in the district.

Her father Raju Kanojia irons clothes and mother Anita is a housewife. The family lives in Sector 12, Panchkula.“My elder brother Mohit helped me in studies. I also took tuitions for 2 months in mathematics and science. My teachers were also of great help. Her medium of taking the exam was English. I want to pursue civil engineering from Chandigarh,” she said.

MASON’S DAUGHTER SCORES 92%

Pallavi of Sarthak Government Integrated Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 12-A, Panchkula, has scored 92% marks despite odds.

Her father Shivji Pandit is a mason and mother Manju Devi a housewife.The family resides in Maheshpur village in Panchkula.

“I did not take tuitions and solely depended on teachers. I was not expecting this good result,” she said. “I want to become a civil services officer.”
