RLD to hold a parallel show when Modi addresses a rally
LUCKNOW: Even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to address a rally in Saharanpur on Thursday, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Ajit Singh has decided to hold a parallel show in the neighbouring district of Shamli on the same day.
Singh has asked his son and party national general secretary, Jayant Chaudhary to hold a demonstration in Shamli in support of cane arrears due towards the farmers.
RLD state president, Munna Singh Chauhan said that the issue of cane has consistently been taken up by the party in the past.
RLD decision to coincide its demonstration with Modi rally comes days after Ajit Singh talks with BJP for a Rajya Sabha seat failed. This was after Ajit backed off from merging his party with Nitish Kumar led JD(U) in the run up to UP assembly elections due in 2017.
Chauhan said that the party will also carry out a Rath Yatra in support of a Dhangars, a sub-caste within dalits. The march proposed to start from Hathras will culminate in Agra where a party will hold a function presided over by Ajit Singh.
