Samsung Galaxy Note 6: Samsung's Flagship Will Feature An Iris Scanner [RUMOR]

By

One of the most awaited smartphones of 2016, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 has the rumor mills swirling once again as Samsung's latest trademark applications hint at an iris scanner for the upcoming smartphone.

The South Korean tech firm has filed "Samsung Iris" as well as "Samsung Eyeprint" trademarks in Europe, which indicates that the upcoming Galaxy Note 6 may come geared with iris scanning technology, Dutch publication Galaxy Club reported.

Leading smartphone manufacturers have equipped their flagship devices with fingerprint scanner in the past as well, in fact, its a common practice as far as flagship mobiles are concerned. The feature enable users to unlock their phones and also authorize online payment without breaking a sweat.

Although the fingerprint scanning technology may seem to be an extremely dependable way of safeguarding handsets, some market observers do not quite agree with the theory. The purported iris recognition technology is reportedly much more advanced as compared to the fingerprint recognition systems. Very few smartphones such as Microsoft Lumia 950, Lumia 950 XL come geared with iris recognition technology, reported TechTimes.

Aside from an iris scanner, the Samsung Galaxy Note 6 will reportedly feature a 5.8-inch screen and run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, coupled with 6 GB of RAM. If rumors doing rounds online are anything to go by, the Galaxy Note 6 will be the first smartphone to pack 6 GB of RAM.

Samsung is slated to take the wraps off three variants in the forthcoming Galaxy Note series:

Galaxy Note 6
Galaxy Note 6 edge
Galaxy Note 6 Lite

While the Galaxy Note 6 and Galaxy Note 6 edge will reportedly have the same specs, the Lite edition may be powered by a Snapdragon 820 processor.

As far as internal storage options are concerned, the Galaxy Note 6 may offer a choice between 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB.

Samsung recently came under fire from users for not providing a microSD card slot in the Galaxy Note 5; however if rumors proved true, the Galaxy Note 6 will come with a microSD card slot.

Speculations doing rounds hint Samsung will opt for a mid-August launch window for the Galaxy Note 6 this year. The rumor stems from the Galaxy Note 5's release in August.

Samsung has not yet confirmed the specs of the Galaxy Note 6.
