GCDA chairman to step down on Wednesday
KOCHI: greater Cochin development Authority chairman N Venugopal will step down on Wednesday since the state saw a change in leadership. Venugopal told reporters in Kochi on Tuesday that, he stepping down after paving way for several projects in the district.
He is stepping down after serving GCDA for four and half years. Venugopal said he encouraged organics farming, renovating Kaloor market, stopped toll collection on Mattanchery bridge, gave title deeds for 130 families in Ambalamugal and GCDA office has been using solar power.
He said the laser being conducted in Rajendra Maidan was started in the midst of strong opposition from different corners.
He recollected the intervention made by Justice V R Krishna Iyer. He said GCDA could construct two bridges using Korean technology. He could take steps to beautify Panampilly Nagar with the help of Kochi Metro Ltd. The construction 25 studio apartments in kakannad could be completed in a time bound manner, he added.
