Speaking in an interaction programme of Reporters’ Club in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the leader said, “We have demanded re-writing of only those sections that are faulty in the constitution.” He added that they [agitating parties] have not demanded rewriting of the constitution.
His remark comes at a time when protesting alliance’s another constituent party—Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal—Chairman Upendra Yadav has been publicly claiming that they would not sit for talks with the government unless the government committed to rewrite the statute.
Mahato also welcomed Prime Minister’s move to send a formal letter calling the agitating parties for talks.
However, Chairman Mahato remarked the two-page letter from the PM as disappointing regarding its content.
